Here are a few quick things to know about celebrating Easter at PUMC:

• There is a place for you! Whether you prefer a classic and traditional worship service or a more contemporary and modern worship experience, we have a place for you. We feel blessed with many different musicians and talented individuals, and we love to worship God in genuine and authentic ways in each of our Sunday morning services.
• While at Plainfield UMC, please visit our Welcome Center or see an usher if you need help. The Welcome Center is located in the South Lobby, near Door 1. Our volunteers are happy to assist you and answer any questions. Also, stop by the Coffee Area in the main lobby and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
• As you experience God at Plainfield UMC, we invite you to share your experience with others through social media. Please be sure to use our hashtag, #EasterAtPUMC, so we can help share your experience.

In the Sanctuary

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent in the Western Christian calendar. It marks the beginning of 40 days of fasting, reflection, and penance, leading to Easter. 

During the Ash Wednesday worship service, ashes are placed on the foreheads of the participants in the shape of a cross. This symbolizes mortality and the need for repentance before God. 

This worship service is a solemn and reflective time to contemplate our relationship with God and the need for spiritual renewal.

NewDay Praise Worship (contemporary worship) at 10:00 a.m. in the Worship Annex

Today marks the celebration of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where the people welcomed him with palm branches. The people believed that they were getting a new king, but they were unaware that they would shout "Crucify Him!" within a few days. We will celebrate this occasion and prepare our hearts to receive the passion story of Jesus.

In the Sanctuary

This worship service is quite different from any other throughout the year.

We will sing, read scripture, and pray as usual in other worship experiences. However, instead of celebrating the risen and living Christ, who is the center of all Sunday worship, we will remember the days and activities of Christ before his resurrection.

This worship primarily focuses on the crucifixion and death of Jesus. We do this not to be morbid but to fully understand the power and promise found in his resurrection.

Please be at peace, and know that you are safely in God's care as we enter this sacred time of worship and reflection.

Attention parents!

We are excited to announce that we will host a free Easter egg hunt event called Eggstravaganza on March 30 at 10:00 a.m. The event will be held outside and is open to children aged 0-12. Children are divided into age groups so that everyone has a fair chance of finding eggs and winning prizes. Remember to invite your friends and family!

The event will feature great music and practical teaching.
