Special Financial Appeal With The Roof/HVAC Loan

Thank you for your participation in the life of the congregation and your prayerful pledging of financial support of PUMC’s ministry. Your engagement brings the BIG Love of God in Jesus Christ to life in the experience of many people. Glory to God!

We want to give an overview of our financial situation and make a request of you as we work to establish our budget for 2021.
Since our Consecration Sunday on October 25, we have received an estimate of giving cards for 2021, with roughly 43% of pledgers increasing their giving. Glory to God!

We now know that our projected 2021 giving is $949,854, $27,000 less than our current budget.
At our Church Conference on October 28, we committed to secure a large, long-term loan for the urgent repair and replacement of our roof and HVAC system. That loan will add an obligation to our budget of roughly $30,000.

With these factors, the total shortfall amounts to approximately $60,000.
These, along with some increases in fixed costs in 2021, will make it very challenging to balance our budget to projected giving. To live within our means with a balanced budget, the finance committee will need to recommend significant and noticeable reductions to the 2021 budget. These reductions will have a clear impact on your experience of PUMC’s ministries.

Transforming for Tomorrow (T4T) is not supported by the budget. The continued fulfillment of outstanding T4T pledges is necessary to fund the last completed project, our restrooms’ renovation. We do not currently have T4T funds to engage any additional T4T projects.

To avoid significant reductions to the budget and our ministries, please prayerfully consider giving a special financial gift. You may supplement your Estimate of Giving by contacting the church office or Rebecca Blackwelder, our Financial Administrator. You may also provide a designated gift marked “PUMC loan.” It would be most helpful for our budget planning to receive your gift or adjusted Estimate of Giving by December 13.

You are the champions in fulfilling our mission. Thank you!

If you have questions, please reach out to Sr. Pastor, Charlie Wilfong, [email protected]; Finance Chair, Mike Simek, [email protected]; Council Chair, Nikki Shoultz, [email protected]; Trustees Chair, Mark Preis, [email protected]; or T4T Chair, Kimberly Meyer, [email protected].

Your special gift can help PUMC continue our witness with strength. Thank you for your generosity.
