PUMC announces cancellation of the Annual Community Fish Fry

Plainfield United Methodist Church announces the cancellation of the Annual Community Fish Fry scheduled for July 31 & August 1
John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church built the church on three rules, “Do no harm; Do good; and Stay in love with God.”
Do No Harm.
Plainfield United Methodist Church made the decision to cancel the 2020 Community Fish Fry, in the light of the ongoing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, for the health and safety of the community and the church members that help host the fish fry. This is the first cancellation of this event since 1945.
Do Good.
With the cancellation, many of our mission initiatives that benefit from the funds raised through this event will suffer. These include, but are not limited to: Plainfield United Methodist Church’s own hunger alleviation ministries, the Angel Tree ministry, Family Assistance, Hendricks County Family Promise, and the Just Be Kind youth group.
To help offset the shortage in funds that would be generated by the fish fry, the Plainfield United Methodist Church’s Missions Committee requests that you send the money you have spent at the Annual Community Fish Fry as a gift in kind. The Missions Committee will direct your gifts to the greatest current need among the projects they oversee.
You can send your gift safely and securely online at pumc.org/give, through the Plainfield UMC mobile app (download app at pumc.org/app), through your bank with online billpay, or mail a check to Plainfield UMC, Attn: Rebecca Blackwelder, 600 Simmons Street, Plainfield, IN 46168 and please write “Fish Fry Missions” on the memo line.
Stay in love with God.
Finally, to show the big love of God to the community, during the weekend that the fish fry would have been held, July 31 & August 1, we encourage everyone to visit a local eatery to help those businesses that have been affected by this pandemic. Below is a map of local businesses in the area.

While this year’s event has been cancelled, we are already making plans for next year’s event to be held July 30 & 31, 2021. We look forward to seeing you next year!
