So That...

In the Bible the words “so that” are nearly always important words. They are words that often connect the action of God with God’s purpose for that action….

In Isaiah 41, God provides what the poor and needy seek “so that all may see and know, all may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this.”
In 1 Peter, the author recounts the work of God in Jesus “so that the genuineness of your faith… may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus is revealed.”
And in Genesis, the very first time God speaks to Abram, God sends Abram out from his home and promises Abram land and a large people “so that you will be a blessing.” God blessed
Abram and his descendants so that they could pass that blessing on to others.

In the last weeks since Mike learned of his dad’s passing, this community of faith – blessed with good and generous hearts, compassion, love, and faithfulness – has been a blessing to us. Your outpouring of love, support, encouragement and aid has been comforting and so very meaningful. Your cards, calls, messages, flowers and visits were visible and tangible signs of love, shared with us and Mike’s family so that we might know that we are not alone in our grief, but that God – and God’s good people - walks through it with us. Thank you for being a blessing to us, to our family, and to Mike’s entire family.
It is with the most sincere appreciation for who you are as God’s blessed people here at PUMC, that we offer our thanks and our love for all that we have received. Thank you. You are all a blessing to us and to so many.
