Plainfield UMC Reopening Plan

Updated: September 30, 2020
Starting October 11, Plainfield UMC will be open for worship, adult Sunday School, existing groups, and church business groups!

Worship will be available at 8:45 a.m. for Classic and 10:00 a.m. for NewDay Praise, without an RSVP. We continue to offer Youth Worship at 10:00 a.m. in room 201. Please continue to observe social distancing (minimum of six feet) and wear your masks.

Classic Worship will continue to enter through door 1 and exit through door 17. NewDay Praise will enter and exit through door 14. Infant/toddler care will not be available, and [email protected] will continue with virtual lessons.

Adult Sunday School class leaders and other group leaders should confirm their meeting space and time with Office Manager, Brent Miller. As with worship, please practice social distancing. Wear a mask at all times. Chairs will be available in the meeting rooms. Please use the supplied cleaner supplies to wipe down surfaces and leave the chairs in place when you leave.

To cut down on congestion in the main hallway, the Ordinary People and ReWired classes will use door 1, while the F.U.N. Class, Revelations, and Genesis classes will use door 2. If you are attending 8:45 a.m. worship, you do not need to exit the building. Use the main hallway.

Those in Youth Worship will continue to use door 3 to enter and exit the building.

Since the pandemic situation is very fluid, Plainfield UMC may return to lockdown status if there is a spike in COVID-19 cases.

If you any questions, please contact Brent Miller at [email protected].

RSVP for October 4 Worship

Safely returning to onsite worship presents complications and limits on our activities and seating capacity. COVID-19 is still impacting our communities and we will continue recommended health protocols for places of worship as published by the Indiana State Department of Health to protect members and guests.  In addition to onsite worship, we will continue to offer live stream worship.
To RSVP for worship, please follow the links below.

Plainfield UMC's primary goal continues to be the safety of our congregation, staff and community.

As we continue in these days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to be grateful for the faithfulness and generosity of this congregation. Thank you for your ongoing participation in worship, ministry and mission, and for the many ways you are caring for each other and those around you. Your witness to the love of Jesus in real and practical ways is touching lives in our communities. Glory to God!

As we move forward toward the new normal, our life together in ministry and mission continues to inspire, aid, and encourage:

  • The staff will continue to provide helpful and inspiring content nearly every day on PUMC’s social media platforms.
  • Mission and outreach will continue in ways that provide care for the most vulnerable in the community.
  • Childcare is available, operating within the Governor’s guidelines. Please contact the church with needs or questions.
  • Pastors will continue to be available for pastoral care via phone calls, texts, and social media.
  • You may continue to make your financial gifts online at, in the SecureGive app, via your bank’s online bill paying method, or by USPS. Please call the church office if you have any questions about giving. (317.839.2319)
