About the Organ Scholar Position
The Plainfield United Methodist Organ Scholar position exists to provide practical, applied experience to the next generation of sacred music leaders. Recognizing the congregation’s close proximity to the largest higher-education pipe organ program in the nation, PUMC established a relationship with the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2013 serving dedicated, gifted and motivated undergraduate or graduate students studying pipe organ performance or sacred music. The Organ Scholar is a nine-month position (roughly from September through May) that plays for worship and Adult Choir rehearsal on a weekly basis; this includes much of the service music, ensemble accompaniment, hymnody, conducting, rehearsal preparation and practice. The position may be extended annually for as long as the individual remains a student. The Organ Scholar program is a mission/outreach ministry of the PUMC Worship Arts department, recognizing this congregation has a charge to cultivate tomorrow’s sacred music leaders.

PUMC is pleased to welcome Jaime Carini as Organ Scholar for September 2014 - May 2015.
