NewDay Praise Worship Leader

Michael Norton

Send Email

Michael grew up in a family of musicians and music has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember. Right out of high school he began leading worship for churches and Christian events. His musical experience spans traditional hymns, bluegrass and gospel music, and contemporary worship.

In addition to leading worship, Michael has spent nearly a decade ministering to children and youth at Christian conferences across North America through music and storytelling. While traveling, he met and fell in love with his wife, Amanda, who is also a children’s minister. After they got married, they ran a national children’s ministry before “settling down” to raise their daughter, Lux.  Michael and Amanda welcomed their second daughter, Kyra in June, 2014.

In PUMC's own version of a 60-second interview, Michael shared the following...

Coffee, tea, or soda?
Coffee - Starbucks Gold Coast blend.
Favorite contemporary Christian artist, group, and song?
Switchfoot - favorite song is probably "We Are One Tonight" or "Oh, Gravity!"...but honestly, I love everything that Jon Foreman writes.
If you had 24 hours without any responsibilities or obligations, how would you spend it?
Some combination of lifting weights, hiking, and a concert by one of my many favorite bands followed by dinner at an Irish pub with my lovely wife, Amanda. #perfectday
Birth order or only child? What defining characteristic do you most claim in that position?
Firstborn. I have no problem being the center of attention.
Night owl or early bird?
Night owl. I am my most productive/creative after midnight.
Apple or Android?
What are the three most important things to know about you?
1. I don't think I could survive without music.
2. I value honesty and authenticity.
3. I know I wouldn't be alive without Jesus, and I wouldn't even want to try to do life without Him.
