Green Team
Leader: Bob Nolan

The Green Team's mission is to celebrate God's creation by educating, encouraging and enabling the PUMC community to conserve resources and renew environmental harmony.

JULY 13, 2013, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Plan to join us as we Experience God in 2013

(People will be on hand to help you unload items from your vehicle)

SMALL HOUSEHOLD and KITCHEN ITEMS. Donations may include silverware, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, dishtowels, etc. that clients of Sheltering Wings, a safe haven for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence, will use as they leave the facility and begin a new life in an apartment or home. A representative from Sheltering Wings will be on hand to receive your donations.

OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. Representatives from Goodwill will be here to collect larger household items that you no longer need.

METAL.  Recycleforce, Inc., a not-for-profit Indianapolis organization will take your unwanted electrical items. Bring anything that has an electrical cord….computers, monitors, appliances, washers, dryers, etc. No need for items to be in working condition as they will be recycling the metal. As other organizations do, they ask for a $10 donation to help offset their expenses to remove Freon from items such as refrigerators and air conditioners.

PAPER, MAGAZINES, CATALOGS, OFFICE and SCHOOL PAPERS.  Deposit these items in the AbiBow green and yellow Paper Retriever Bins.  Please no cereal boxes, plastic bags or phone directories.

PAPER SHREDDING FROM 11 A.M. – 1 P.M.  Bring confidential papers and documents to ensure they are properly destroyed.

PHARMACEUTICAL TAKE BACK/DISPOSAL.  Officials will be here to collect pharmaceutical and controlled substances for disposal at no charge.

No toxic, oil-based or latex paints, or other chemicals will be accepted.

Energizing Indiana Now Paying $25 Per Audit

Through a special program offered by select energy companies in Indiana you can learn how to save energy, lower your energy bill, receive free gifts and help PUMC's Green Team! Energizing Indiana offers the services of a skilled representative who will come to your home, do a careful energy audit, and leave a report and a box full of energy saving goodies.

There is no charge and you are not pressured to buy anything. In fact, if you make an appointment for your residential audit, PUMC's Green Team earns $25. These monies will be used to fund "green" projects around the church. If you would rather have Energize Indiana contact you by phone to set up an appointment, you can pick up a request form in the main office or at the Resource Center in the south sanctuary lobby. These completed forms should be returned to Bob Nolan in the church office.

This opportunity is not restricted to the PUMC community. This program is open to your friends, family and neighbors, too. Call or sign-up today to help your energy bills, the environment, and the Green Team earn funds for further ministry.
